In May 2014 Sierra leone registered its first case of the deadly Ebola virus. The initial handful of cases rapidly turned into a chain of infection that spread across a huge swathe of West Africa, ultimately claiming over 11,000 lives. Thousands more were infected as the disease sewed fear and confusion throughout the country. This project was shot over the course of several months as Sierra leone and its foreign backers desperately scrambled to stop the spread .
