In November 2015, after losing almost 4000 lives to the deadly disease, Sierra declared itself free of the virus. A sense of normalcy started to return to the streets as curfews were lifted and children played football in the streets again. But despite the great resilience of this small West African country, deep scars still remain. While the economy begins to recover and the future seems hopeful for some, the wounds of those who’ve lost loved ones will take much, much longer to heal.
